Rebecca Walters, MS TEP is a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor and Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in New York State. She is the Director of the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute in New York which she co- founded in 1989. With over 30 years of inpatient experience, Rebecca was the Director of Child and Adolescent Psychodrama Services at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in New York where she ran psychodrama groups on both inpatient and outpatient child units, adolescent units and adult units, supervised the psychodrama internship program and developed and implemented DBT in Action skill groups.
Rebecca was on the faculty of MD Anderson’s ICare program in their Faculty Development department where she used sociodrama to teach communication skills to medical and supervisory staff. She is a well-respected international trainer, presenting at conferences and institutes throughout the US, Europe, the UK, Asia and Central America on the use of Psychodrama and Sociodrama with Children, Adolescents and other “Resistant” Clients, and in the safe use of Psychodrama with those healing from Trauma. She has presented workshops for Tele’Drama, most recently Sociodrama and Story with Children’s Groups.
Rebecca is a Fellow of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) and was the recipient of their 2018 JL Moreno Award for lifetime achievement in the field.
