This workshop integrates the concepts of John Gottman's relationship theories and the application of Tele’Drama, highlighting the innovative approach to relationship therapy in a modern, digital context. It suggests a focus on combining established psychological principles with new, technology-driven methods of therapeutic interaction.
Dr. Daniela Simmons, PhD will direct from her office in Dallas, TX, USA. Dr.Violeta D. Kadieva, PhD will be presenting from a classroom at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, where she will gather a class of graduate students from the graduate Marriage & Family Therapy program.
The hybrid experience will include everyone - the group of graduate students; the participants, joining individually from various locations around the world.
John and his wife, Julie Gottman, believe that couple interventions must be grounded in basic
research. So, they present a review of the empirical work that underlines their therapeutic model.
Their work has been conducted over the last three decades and continues today. In this workshop
we will explore the different aspects of Gottman couple's approach and its ability to predict
divorce or stability and relationship satisfaction with accuracy, which has not been replicated
across other studies with other therapy models. In this hybrid workshop, we will learn about and
practice with taking the oral history of a couple/family. We will explore the signs of flooding. We
will also practice constructive resolution of conflict.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss how to take oral history of a couple/family.
2. Explore the signs of flooding.
3. Practice constructive resolution of conflict.
