A Collaborative Training Between
TELE’DRAMA INTERNATIONAL & HUDSON VALLEY PSYCHODRAMA INSTITUTE


WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

People who have been wounded and/or traumatized by abandonment, physical, emotional, sexual abuse and/or neglect often lack the internal compassionate images that can self sooth, nurture and offer guidance. They may find it a challenge to connect with their own Wise Mind. They struggle to develop a connection to a positive spirituality and to a hopeful view of the future.

Through the use of guided imagery and psychodrama we will explore the use of wisdom figures from diverse cultures and personal fantasy in helping develop the resources needed to heal old wounds and move into the future with courage and spontaneity.
Participants will have the opportunity to encounter their own wisdom figure, practice role reversal and participate in a psychodramatic vignette.

Methods of presentation include Didactic and Brainstorming to increase awareness of diverse cultural concepts of wisdom figures

• Embodied Guided Fantasy so participants can have an internal encounter with their own wisdom figure.
• Practice of deep interviewing skills and role reversal to encounter wisdom figures in action
• Participation in a psychodrama that will demonstrate the use of wisdom figures to provide support, safety and guidance in dealing with difficult situations.

 
Participants will be able to:

• define and explain the importance of utilizing what psychodramatists call surplus reality
• name three wisdom figures from diverse cultures
• explain two uses of wisdom figures
• demonstrate the use of embodied sensory based guided imagery
• develop and encounter at least one wisdom figure
• practice the use of role reversal
• participate in a psychodrama focusing on creating internal safety, compassion and wisdom

• North American Association for Drama Therapy
• The International Society for Experiential Professionals (ISEP)
• American Society for Experiential therapy

NBCC Continuing Education HoursSIX (6) Hours are available for a $25 fee. NBCC Continuing Education Hours are accepted by many states for Professional Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Social Worker and Family & Marriage
Therapists.
